Sevier App and Wayne Mugshots
Sevier County Sheriff offers an official mobile app with a Jail Information feature. The Apple store listing and Google Play listing confirm the feature, but neither says that it displays photos or keeps released-person images. The live app must be checked before making either claim.

If the current inmate view displays an image, record the source and access date. Do not assume the image stays after release. An app no-result is not proof that the person was never booked, that the image was removed by law, or that release happened.

Request Wayne Booking Photo Records

Utah Rules for Wayne Mugshots
Utah law requires more care than the broad claim that all mugshots are freely public. Utah Code §63G-2-305(80), together with §17-72-802, protects booking photographs in the covered sheriff context. A sheriff may not provide a copy while it remains protected or when it is destined for a publish-for-pay publication. A permitted requester must sign the required affirmation, and a false written statement can carry consequences under §76-8-504.
That framework means a request may seek a releasable photo, but production cannot be promised. Medical, victim, security, personal, and investigative information can also be withheld or redacted under the record's classification. Ask for the legal basis when the office denies access.

This UDC image concerns a state institutional record. It does not convert a Sevier jail booking photograph into a UDC photo or change sheriff-photo restrictions.
Wayne Mugshot Removal Rights
Utah's current booking-photo publication statute creates a specific remedy against a publish-for-pay operator. After the person's request, the operator generally must remove and destroy the image within 30 calendar days and may not condition ordinary removal on more than $50. Statutory costs, attorney fees, and daily consequences may follow noncompliance.
A faster rule applies when documentation establishes acquittal, a final decision not to prosecute, expungement, vacatur, or pardon. Removal is then due within seven days, no fee may be demanded, and a higher daily consequence may apply. These are defined statutory paths, not a general promise that every copy will disappear from every source.
Do not pay an unverified removal service or treat an operator's continued copy as an official status record. Follow the statute's current text and retain proof of the qualifying request and delivery.
Wayne Expungement and Photo Access
Utah expungement under Title 77, Chapter 40a can seal qualifying government case records from ordinary public access. Eligibility depends on the outcome, offense, obligations, current custody or supervision, and other case facts. Utah Courts reports an automatic clearance process for qualifying cases and also maintains a petition route. Use the current court instructions rather than a static estimate.
An expunged public no-result does not prove that no event occurred. It means the public access path may be closed. Old third-party copies should not be used to reconstruct or spotlight information no longer available from the government. An expungement does not necessarily erase a separately published news item, but that article still cannot prove current custody or a release date.
Correction requests also follow the custodian. Wayne arrest errors go to Wayne Sheriff. Sevier booking errors go to Sevier Sheriff. UDC record errors go to UDC, and court docket errors go to the filing clerk. Fixing one source does not automatically update every independent copy.

The Utah State Archives maintains historical prison material that serves a different purpose from a recent release check. Its prison commitment registers can include the offense, sentence, discharge date, and prison record. Identification photographs are described in series 10396. These collections can document an older state-prison history, but they do not report current Wayne County custody.
Search the archive only when the age of the case fits its coverage. Record the collection, series, item identity, and access date. A historical discharge entry should not be presented as a current status check, and a historical prison image is not a Sevier jail booking photo. The originating archive remains the source for access conditions and corrections.
Recent state records stay with UDC. A fully discharged person may no longer appear in UDC Offender Search because its published scope is current incarceration, probation, or parole. In that case, a focused UDC request, BOPP decision, court record, or age-appropriate Archives record is more durable than a missing search result.
A historical image also needs the same identity care as a new record. Names, aliases, and dates should be checked against the commitment entry. If the collection has access limits or an incomplete index, ask Archives staff for the correct series procedure rather than attaching the nearest same-name photograph to a Wayne County case.

A careful match uses more than a face or name. Compare the source agency, booking or offender number, event date, and Wayne court context. Then obtain the release record separately.
